Venice, Florida – Hannah Serfass, a rising teenage equestrian, has died following a tragic horse riding accident during the Fox Lea Farm Spring Concours I competition over the weekend. The accident occurred while the 15-year-old was participating in a jumper event riding Quaxx 2, a 12-year-old Holsteiner gelding. According to the US Equestrian Federation, the horse stumbled and fell, causing a “rotational fall” that was unrelated to any jumping effort and resulted in Quaxx 2 landing on top of Serfass and the horse rider suffering fatal head injuries.

Serfass was described as a “very talented and up-and-coming young rider,” who had already made a name for herself in the equestrian community. Her tragic death has sent shockwaves throughout the industry, with industry organizations and event organizers offering their condolences and pledging to conduct thorough investigations to determine how to minimize risk and increase rider safety during equestrian sports.

The accident occurred midway through the course, and emergency services were immediately called for support. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, Serfass was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital. The horse was unharmed.

Fox Lea Farm extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to Serfass’ family and the entire equestrian community. The US Equestrian Federation has vowed to investigate the accident and conduct a review of measures that could be taken to enhance rider safety and minimize risk.

Hannah Serfass will be remembered as a passionate and hardworking young rider whose life was tragically cut too short. Her death serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with horse riding and highlights the importance of taking all necessary precautions to ensure rider safety at all equestrian events.
