The Cleveland Browns have made a move to bolster their offensive line, signing veteran guard Colby Gossett to their roster. Gossett, who has played in 36 games in his NFL career, including nine starts, spent the last two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, appearing in 31 games with five starts.

The 311-pound guard played his rookie season with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018, where he appeared in five games with four starts. He was drafted in the sixth round out of Appalachian State by the Minnesota Vikings, who had Browns coach Kevin Stefanski as an assistant coach, before being waived and eventually landing with the Cardinals.

Gossett spent a week with the New England Patriots’ practice squad in September 2019 after being released by the Cardinals. He then signed with the Browns’ practice squad, where he spent the duration of the season.

In 2020, Gossett played in 14 games with one start for the Falcons, playing 74 offensive and 49 special-teams snaps. His best season was in 2021, where he appeared in all 17 games with four starts, playing 267 offensive and another 72 special-teams snaps.

The Browns signed Gossett to a one-year deal for the 2022 season, as he competes for a backup role along their offensive line. While the signing may not make headlines, it demonstrates the team’s commitment to shoring up their depth and providing competition across the roster.

With the Browns’ playoff aspirations, every move towards improving the team’s roster is crucial. While Colby Gossett may not be a household name, his experience and versatility will prove to be valuable assets to a team with high expectations for the 2022 season.
