Actor Jamie Foxx has broken his silence following reports of a medical emergency last month. In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the Spider-Man: No Way Home star told fans he is “feeling blessed”, but did not provide any further details about his condition. Foxx’s medical emergency is believed to have taken place in mid-April, but he did not publicly acknowledge it at the time. The cause of the emergency remains unclear.
Foxx has a number of projects in the works, including a reboot of Spawn, supernatural thriller Geechee, and courtroom drama The Burial. He was also filming Back in Action, but his remaining scenes were shot using stunt doubles and body doubles, following his hospitalisation. Corinne, who serves as a DJ on the show, was temporarily replaced by Kelly Osbourne so Foxx could continue his recovery. Nick Cannon temporarily hosted the game show Beat Shazam, which Foxx launched in 2017 as executive producer and host.
Foxx thanked Cannon for filling in as host on the show following his hospitalization. He will not host the next season of the Fox game show, according to a statement by the network. Foxx was taken ill on the Atlanta set of the Netflix comedy Back in Action, according to his daughter Corinne, who posted a statement on Instagram on 12 April. The show features co-stars Cameron Diaz, Glenn Close, Jamie Demetriou, and Fleabag’s Andrew Scott alongside Foxx.
Foxx won a best actor Oscar for his role as Ray Charles in the music biopic Ray in 2005. His upcoming projects also include the dog comedy Strays, in which his voice will be heard, and the sci-fi comedy They Cloned Tyrone, in which he will be seen alongside John Boyega. Foxx had not posted on Instagram since April 6, but his latest post has drawn considerable attention from fans and well-wishers.
Meanwhile, the cause of Foxx’s medical emergency remains unknown, with no further details being provided. However, his fans and supporters are relieved to see him back in good health and eagerly awaiting his upcoming projects.
