The House Oversight and Reform Committee, led by Republicans, has issued a subpoena to President Biden’s legal team, demanding all documents related to his personal finances. The allegations behind the move were described as “highly credible” by the Republicans, although no evidence was provided. The White House has dismissed the subpoena as another politically motivated attack by Republicans. The FBI and Justice Department have refused to comment on the matter, but it has been revealed that the committee has obtained thousands of pages of the Biden family’s financial records through previous subpoenas.

The Republican-led House committee has been investigating Joe and Hunter Biden’s business dealings for some time, examining foreign payments and other aspects of the family’s finances. Republicans have also subpoenaed the Department of Justice and the FBI to turn over all records related to the investigation into Hunter Biden, citing “alleged” credible whistleblower disclosures. They claim the documents might reveal evidence of White House involvement in the effort to target President Biden’s family members for their past work. The FBI and Justice Department confirmed receiving the subpoena but declined to comment further.

Republican lawmakers James Comer and Chuck Grassley have also claimed that a “document”, unverified as yet, alleges US President Joe Biden was involved in a criminal scheme with a foreign national. According to the pair’s letter to the heads of the FBI and Department of Justice, the document claims to describe “an alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions.” The letter did not say who created the document or what their motivations were, and the department of justice has declined to comment.

Despite previous Republican claims regarding the overseas business dealings of the Biden family, few allegations have resulted in convictions. House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. James Comer issued a subpoena to FBI Director Christopher Wray on Wednesday for an FD-1023 form. This form allegedly details a “criminal scheme” involving Joe Biden and an unnamed foreign national. Republican Senator Chuck Grassley also co-authored the letter. The Congressmen are leading investigations into Hunter Biden and the Biden family, suggesting this subpoena is linked to wider allegations of Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings. However, they did not provide more specifics on the subject.

This latest subpoena has been dismissed by the White House as another politically motivated attack by Republicans. The FBI and Justice Department have refused to comment on the allegations, but it is known that the committee has obtained thousands of pages of the Biden family’s financial records through previous subpoenas. Despite a number of previous allegations against the Biden family, few have led to convictions.
