Meg Ryan, the American actress, made a rare appearance at the premiere of ‘Still’, a documentary by Michael J Fox about his ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease. However, Ryan faced unfair criticism from social media users, who critiqued her style and questioned whether she had cosmetic work done to her face. Despite the unpleasant comments, Ryan, who was wearing a white shirt and a suit jacket with black jeans and Adidas trainers, has previously stated that she ignores online abuse.

The documentary, which was screened to Fox’s friends and family in New York City, takes a closer look at the actor’s life and his problems with the degenerative neurological condition. Parkinson’s is the second-most common neurodegenerative disease in the US, with an estimated 60,000 cases diagnosed annually. It causes a progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects movement and can cause tremors and stiffness in the body. Fox described the documentary as “deeply touching, funny, informative and honest”.

During an interview on CBS Sunday Morning, Fox provided a sombre update on his condition. He said, “You don’t die from Parkinson’s. You die with Parkinson’s.” Fox has battled the disease for many years but continues to work despite it. Fox has been very open about his condition and the need to raise awareness about it. He hopes the documentary will offer insight to fans and others affected by the disease.

Meg Ryan has not been seen much in public in recent times. Last year, she announced her return to romantic comedies with her directorial debut, ‘What Happens After’, where she directs and stars alongside David Duchovny. The movie focuses on exes Willa (Ryan) and Bill (Duchovny), who are reunited when snowed in at an airport. Little has been said about the project in recent months. Ryan has faced criticism for her appearance in the past, and she has refused to dignify these comments with a response.

In conclusion, Ryan’s appearance at the documentary premiere should have been about supporting her friend, Michael J Fox, rather than the needless criticism of her style. The documentary offers an intimate look into Fox’s life and hopes to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease.
