SEOUL – An investigation has been launched after an emergency door on Asiana Airlines Flight opened while the plane was airborne and flying over the Korean peninsula. According to reports, 12 people, including several children, were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment or evaluation. Asiana Airlines officials have revealed the children were “startled” and are eligible for Red Cross counselling services. One of these incidents occurred on a flight from Hong Kong to Seoul. The crew had already told passengers to fasten their seat belts when the incident occurred. Meanwhile, in another incident, a 33-year-old man opened the emergency exit on an Asiana Airlines flight travelling from Jeju Island to Daegu International Airport. This incident caused breathing difficulties among a dozen passengers before the plane landed safely.
The Airbus A321-200 was carrying 194 people, including 48 young athletes and their coach, when the passenger opened the door and pulled the emergency release. Despite attempts by fellow passengers to stop him, the man opened the door at a height of roughly 200 meters above the ground, according to the airline. This caused a sharp drop in cabin pressure, and nine people were later transferred to a local hospital with breathing difficulties.
The suspect has not given any explanation for his actions. Asiana Airlines is investigating the incident and has updated its safety guidelines in response to these incidents.
These incidents highlight the importance of maintaining proper safety guidelines on all flights. The responsibility for passenger safety lies with the airlines, and they must ensure that these incidents do not happen again. Airlines should also be more vigilant in screening passengers for potential threats and offering counselling services to those affected by such incidents.
In conclusion, airline safety should always be the top priority for any airline. Airlines must invest in training, proper safety equipment, and passenger screening to minimize the risk of such incidents occurring. The airline industry must also do more to raise awareness about the importance of passenger safety, and passengers must be educated on safety protocols.
