CLOVIS, NEW MEXICO – The city of Clovis is mourning the loss of two young children who tragically lost their lives in a house fire on Sunday evening. The children, aged one and two, were trapped inside the burning building and could not be rescued despite the best efforts of emergency services.

The fire broke out in a residential neighborhood at around 6 pm on Sunday. The children’s mother, who was in the house at the time, managed to escape and immediately called the police for help. However, when police arrived at the scene, heavy smoke had already engulfed the building, making it impossible for them to enter and rescue the children.

The Clovis Fire Department was immediately called to the scene and were able to put out the flames within minutes. However, it was too late to save the two children, whose cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with locals expressing their condolences and offering support to the family affected. The Clovis Police Department has launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, but officials have said that it is too early to determine what may have caused it at this stage.

Clovis Police Department Spokesperson, Captain Roman Romero, spoke to local media about the incident, saying, “We want to send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the children who lost their lives in last night’s house fire. We are working closely with the State Fire Marshalls Office to determine exactly what happened and hope to have more information soon.”

He urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation. “We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone involved, but we urge anyone who may have information about the events leading up to the fire to contact us via the police department tip line or Curry County Crime Stoppers,” he said.

As the investigation continues, the community of Clovis is coming together to offer support to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic event. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
